A-1 attempts a three point try. While the ball is in the air, A-5 and B-5 are whistled for a double foul near the basket as they try to position themselves for a rebound. The try hits the back of the ring and bounces straight up above the basket. The ball contacts the wire above the backboard. Handle the situation.
The double foul creates a Point of Interruption play. A-5 and B-5 are both charged with a personal foul. By rule, since the try was in flight, the ball remained live until it contacted the wire above the backboard. Contacting the wire ended the try and put the ball out of bounds. This became the point of interruption. Since Team A was the last to touch the ball before it became out of bounds, Team B is entitled to a designated spot throw-in.
