The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1, who is on a breakaway, is pushed in the back by B-1 as she releases the ball on a lay-up.  The ball goes through the basket.  The official rules an intentional foul.  What is the correct procedure?

The goal is good.  Despite the successful goal, A-1 is awarded two free throws since this is the penalty for an intentional foul.  No players will line up for the free throws.  Since the foul was a personal foul, the ball will be awarded to Team A for a designated spot throw-in on the endline nearest to where the foul occurred.   (References: Rule 7.5.4, 10.7 Penalty 4, 8.5.3, 8.1.3)
