The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A-1 is awarded two free throws during the fourth quarter. B-1 and B4 are lined up on one side of the lane. A-3 is lined up between them. Before the second free throw, B-1 and B-4 reach out and clasp hands together in front of A-3.
Handle the situation.
While there is no rule that prevents B-1 and B-4 from doing this, if A-3 is impeded in trying to get position for a potential rebound, a holding foul should be ruled. It might be prudent for the administering official to point this out before bouncing the ball to A-1.
