The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

B-4 jumps in an attempts to block a shot.  A-4 fakes the shot and moves to a different spot on the floor.  Although there is no safety issue or potential injury to others, B-4 grabs a hold of the ring and net.    

Handle the situation.


B-4 should be charged with a technical foul for hanging on the rim.  Team A is awarded two free throws and the ball out of bounds at the division line for a designated spot throw-in.

    B1 attempts to block a layout from A1 A1 fake’s. The shot b1 hits the backboard thinking he’s blocking the shot attempt, and it’s called for a technical file.
