Play of the Day 439 (2024-25)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 throws the ball out of bounds between the free-throw line extended and the endline in Team A’s frontcourt.  B-1, attempting a throw-in from the spot where the ball went out of bounds,  commits a throw-in violation by stepping onto the court before releasing the pass.

Handle the situation.

The official should award Team A a throw-in from the sideline “magic” spot nearest to the where Team B was putting the ball in play.  This is because the throw-in for Team A is in its frontcourt and, by rule, all such throw-ins must be from one of the four designated throw-in spots except when the violation is an out-of-bounds violation.

Very Interesting Play. Correct, this is an out-of-bounds situation and Officials need to
    enforce correctly. Thanks!
