With 2.8 seconds left in the game and Team A trailing 51-48, A-1 makes a long throw-in pass downcourt toward A-4 in the frontcourt. B-3 jumps with A-4 and punches the ball away from A-4. 2.5 seconds now show on the game clock.
Handle the situation.
Punching the ball is a violation. Since the violation has occurred in the frontcourt of Team A, Team A will be awarded the ball from one of the four “magic” spots whichever one is closest to the spot of the violation. Since the violation is for illegally touching the throw-in, the clock should not have started. The referee will order the clock to be reset to 2.8 seconds.
