The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A-5 jumps to attempt a short jump shot. B-5 blocks the ball out of bounds. B-5 then yells at A-5, “Get that shit out of here!” The official rules a technical foul on B-5. While the foul is being reported, A-5 curses B-5.
Handle the situation.
This is NOT a double foul situation since the two technical fouls did not occur at approximately the same time. The penalties will be assessed in the order that the fouls occurred. Team A will attempt two free throws for the technical foul by B-5. Then Team B will attempt two free throws for the technical foul on A-5. Team B will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in from the division line opposite the table since the technical foul on A-5 was last.
