The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
There are 12 seconds left in a tie game when A-2 drives to the basket on a fast break. As A-2 is laying the ball up on the backboard, B-2 intentionally shoves A-2 in the back. The ball passes through the basket.
Handle the situation.
Since A-2 is in the act of shooting, the foul does not make the ball dead. The goal counts. Since the foul was an intentional personal foul, two free throws will be awarded to A-2. No players will line up for the free throws. After the free throws are complete, Team A will be awarded the ball out of bounds at the designated endline throw-in spot nearest the foul.
The fact that it is near the end of the game should have no bearing on how this play is handled.
