Play of the Day #368 (2023-24)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

During the first quarter A-5 is observed to have her jersey out when she approaches the free throw line to attempt two free throws.  A-5 is unable to correct the situation.

Handle the situation.

A-5 will attempt the free throws with no players lined up along the lane.  Once the free throws are complete, A-5 will be replaced.  Team B will receive a throw-in from the end line.  Team B will be able to move along the end line if the final free throw was successful.  If such free throw missed, the throw-in shall be from a designated spot on the end line.  A charged timeout does not change the requirement for A-5 to leave the game.

Very Interesting Play. My first thought when I read this was A-5 would have to leave the game
and the substitute would shoot the Free Throws, but this does make sense the way it is handled.
    Thanks!
