The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A-5 receives a pass in the low post area. A-5 then attempts to pass the ball to A-2 on the perimeter. A-2 turns and moves away just as A-5 is releasing the ball. The ball hits the floor and is recovered by A-5.
Handle the situation.
This is a legal play. Since A-5 had not dribbled and the ball hit the floor, A-5 is entitled to recover the errant pass. After recovering the ball, A-5 would not be able to dribble since the actions that occurred would constitute a dribble.
