A-5 attempts a dunk. The ball hits the back of the ring and pops up in the air. A-5 grabs to ring to protect himself. While A-5 is holding the ring, the ball passes through the basket.
Handle the situation.
This is a basket interference violation. Although there is an exception in the rules for dunking the ball, no such exception exists for this play. Once the ball popped up out of the basket, the exception for dunking ended. Since A-5’s hand was in contact with the ring when the ball passed through the basket, this is offensive basket interference. The ball will be awarded to Team B on the end line for designated spot throw-in.
