The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

As time is expiring in the first half, A-3 launches a desperation attempt for a goal.  The horn sounds and the try is unsuccessful.  After this, A-3 loudly curses the missed attempt.

Handle the situation.

A-3 is charged with a technical foul for unsporting conduct.  Since the technical foul occurred after the half had ended, A-3 is considered bench personnel.  Team A’s head coach will receive an indirect technical foul. Team A will have one team foul to start the second half.

Since the half has ended, the free throws will be attempted to start the second half.  After the free throws, Team B will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in from the division line opposite the table.  The alternating possession arrow will not be switched when the throw-in ends since the throw-in is part of the penalty for the technical foul.
