The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A1 is on a breakaway and scores a layup. A1’s momentum carries him out of bounds. B1 picks up the ball, steps out of bounds and releases a pass to B2 inbounds. A1 is crossing the boundary plane when he deflects the pass before he obtains inbounds status.
Handle the situation.
If this is the first warning situation for Team A in the game, a warning for delay should be issued to Team A. Team B would be awarded the ball out of bounds on the end line with the ability to move along the end line.
If a warning for delay had previously been issued to Team A, a technical foul for delay would be assessed. Team B would be awarded two free throws and the ball at the division line opposite the table for a designated spot throw-in.

Very Interesting Play. Correct, and the Officials need to know so the play can be ruled and
administered. Thanks.
Ok, put a twist on this play. If A1 knocks the ball out of B1’s hand before establishing her/himself back inbounds, what do you have then?
This would be a technical foul under 10-4-10.
