The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
With less than 30 seconds to play in the 4th quarter, Team B scores to pull within 3 points. A1 passes the ball inbounds to A2 who immediately fires the ball to A5 near Team A’s basket in frontcourt. As A5 starts up to lay the ball in the basket, B2 intentionally fouls A2. The ball goes through the basket.
Handle the situation.
Since A5 has started his throwing motion for a goal, this is a continuous motion play. By rule, once an offensive player has started the throwing motion, a foul by ANY defender results in a continuous motion play. Since the ball passed through the basket, the goal is counted.
A2 will be awarded two free throws for the intentional foul. Team A will be awarded the ball out of bounds at the spot nearest to where the foul against A2 occurred.

Very Interesting Play. Correct, but Team B Coach to complain with no success, because the
Play is ruled correctly. Thanks.
