The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A1’s try is in flight. A2 and B2 are charged with a double foul while jostling for rebounding position. Then the ball off the ring, hits the floor and goes out of bounds.
Handle the situation.
Since the try was in flight, the double foul does not make the ball dead. By rule this is a point-of-interruption play. The point of interruption is when the ball became dead which is when the try ended. The try ended when it was clear that the try was unsuccessful. This was certainly true when the ball hit the floor. When the try ended, there was no team control. Play will be resumed with a throw-in by the team with the alternating possession arrow on the end line. The throw-in will be a designated spot throw-in.
