A1 is being pressured in her backcourt while attempting to bring the ball to the frontcourt. A1’s pass is intercepted by B1 who jumps from A1’s backcourt and catches the ball while airborne. B1 lands with her right foot coming down in A1’s backcourt first followed by the left foot touching in A1’s frontcourt.
Handle the situation.
Because B1 is a defender, B1’s actions are legal. Although B1 possessed the ball after jumping from her frontcourt thus giving the ball frontcourt status, the exception to the backcourt rule allows her to land anywhere inbounds. It does not matter which foot touches the floor first.
