Play of the Day #215 (2021-22)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

Team A is in the bonus.  A1 receives a pass outside the three-point line.  As A1 jumps to attempt a three-point try, B1 runs through screener A2 and is whistled for the foul.  A1 then releases the ball and it passes through the basket.

Handle the situation.

This is a continuous motion play.  A1 had begun his motion to attempt a try.  By rule, after any foul by the defense, the player, who has begun his motion to shoot, is permitted to complete such motion.  As such, the three-point goal is counted.  A2 will be awarded a bonus free throw situation for the common foul by B1.
