The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

Team A is down to five players.  During rebounding action A5 receives a bloody nose and play is stopped.

Handle the situation.


Team A is permitted to use timeout(s) to keep A5 in the game.  However, Team A may also continue to play with four players if they so choose.  Once A5 is able to resume play, A5 may enter on the next stoppage in play.

    Very Good Play. Yes, this can happen. I had a game several years ago with a Team down to
    4 players and almost won at the end, ball popped out of the basket. Thanks.

    What if A5 was entitle to shoot FT’s and couldn’t return and no subs were available, would one of his four remaining teammates shoot them?
