Play of the Day #201 (2021-22)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

With 29.5 seconds to go in a close game, B2 runs up to dribbler A2 and shoves him with both hands.

Handle the situation.

While placing two hands on a ball handler can be a common foul, shoving the ball handler while doing that should be ruled as an intentional foul regardless of the amount of time remaining in the game.  Strategic fouling is part of the game.  However, there is a right way and a wrong way to give such fouls.  Please remember there are two teams on the court.  One team does not want the clock to stop in this situation.

Very Good Play. Yes, Intentional Foul. We, as Officials, need to remember there are two Teams
and officiate fairly for both. Thanks.
