Team B has the alternating possession arrow. During the fourth quarter, post players B-5 and A-5 are charged with a double personal foul while A-1 is dribbling the ball outside the top of the key. The official awards to ball to Team B for a designated spot throw-in from the out-of-bounds spot nearest to where the ball was when the double foul occurred.
Was the official correct?
The official was NOT correct. A double foul results in a point-of-interruption play. It is true that the throw-in should be from the spot nearest where the ball was when the foul occurred. However, since Team A was in control when the foul occurred, Team A should have received the throw-in.
