A-1 gets fouled and Team A is in the bonus. The officials award A-1 a one and one when Team A is actually in the double bonus situation. A-1 misses the first attempt of the one and one. Team B rebounds the miss and immediately requests and is granted a time out. After the time out, while Team B was attempting the throw in, the scorer notified the officials of the problem with A-1’s free throw situation. The officials stop play.
Handle the situation.
There has been a failure to award a merited free throw (the second free throw in a double bonus situation). This is a correctable error. However, the clock started and the ball has become live twice since the error. The first time was when the ball was rebounded by Team B. The ball became live for a second time during the throw-in after the timeout. Therefore, it is too late to correct the error. Play will proceed with the throw-in for Team B.
