The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 and B-1 tie the ball up resulting in a held ball.  Team A is awarded the ball for an alternating possession throw-in.  During the alternating possession throw-in, Team B’s head coach is assessed a technical foul for grousing about the held ball ruling.

Handle the situation.


Team A will be awarded two free throws and possession of the ball for a throw-in at the division line opposite the table.  Since the alternating possession throw-in was not completed, the arrow is not switched.  The next alternating possession throw-in will go to Team A.
