The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

As A-1 begins his attempt to shoot a free throw, the four defensive players along the lane quickly turn their backs to the lane.

Handle the situation.


This is an obvious attempt to distract A-1 while he is attempting his free throw.  The officials should give the delayed-dead-ball-violation signal.  If the free throw is not successful, a substitute free throw should be awarded. If the free throw is successful, the violation is ignored.
