The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A-1 is fouled with 1.9 seconds on the clock before the end of the 2nd quarter. Team A is given a throw-in which results in a missed shot at the buzzer. After the teams have gone to the locker room, the scorer tells the officials that A-1 should have attempted a bonus free throw situation.
Handle the situation.
The halftime intermission is the 1st dead ball since the error occurred. Therefore, the error of failing to award merited free throw(s) can still be corrected. Administer the bonus free throw situation for A-1 to start the third quarter. No players will line up along the lane. Once this is finished, resume play from the point of interruption which is the AP throw-in to start the 3rd quarter.

Have you seen an unusual play? Let all officials benefit from it by sending it to Play of the Day
Great question! I would have gotten it right except I would have thought you would shoot the FT before halftime instead of the beginning of the third quarter. Always good to learn the correct procedure! Keep the questions coming!
Great Question. Good to administer the play right.
