The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

During the 2nd quarter A-1 is fouled by B-1. Team A is in the bonus. A-1 & B-1 shove each other and the official issues a double technical foul. A-1 makes both free throw attempts for the bonus free throw situation.  The official uses the alternating possession arrow to see who gets possession after the free throws.  Is the official correct?


The official is NOT correct.  A double foul creates a point of interruption situation.  After charging the fouls, play is resumed from the point the game was interrupted.  In this case, that is the administration of the bonus free throw situation.  Play continues normally from this point.
