Play of the Day #94 (2019-20)

No Comments on Play of the Day #94 (2019-20)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

As the horn sounds to end the 1st quarter, B-1 is charged with an intentional personal foul against A-1.  Handle the situation.

Since the foul occurred as part of the 1st quarter, the quarter is not over until the free throws are attempted.  A-1 will be awarded two free throws with no players in the marked lane spaces.  Assuming no other fouls occur before the free throws are over, the quarter will end when the second free throw becomes dead.

Since penalties (other than correctable errors) do not carry over from one quarter to the next, the second quarter will start with the ball being awarded via the alternating possession arrow.
