The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
After the 1st half ends, as the teams are headed to the locker rooms, A-5 jumps up, grabs the ring and does a chin-up. Team B has the alternating possession arrow to start the 3rd quarter.
Handle the situation.
A-5 is charged with a technical foul for unsporting conduct. Since this occurs during the half-time intermission, an indirect technical foul is charged to Team A’s head coach since A-5 is considered to be bench personnel at this point in time. This results in the loss of coaching box privileges. Team B will receive two free throws to start the 3rd quarter. Then Team B will be awarded a designated spot throw-in from the division line opposite the table. The alternating possession arrow will not be reversed.
