A-1 has the ball on the endline for a throw-in. A-1 attempts to pass the ball to A-2 near the division line. A-2, who is in the frontcourt, jumps and catches the ball while airborne. A-2 lands with her left foot coming down in frontcourt followed by her right foot coming down on the division line. The official rules a backcourt violation. Was the official correct?
The official was NOT correct. During a throw-in an airborne player may catch the ball and land anywhere inbounds. It does not matter which foot comes down first. (References: Rule 9-9-3)
