A-1 makes the 1st free throw and misses the 2nd free throw. The ball is rebounded by B-1 who dribbles the length of the court and is fouled while attempting a layup. The ball goes in the basket.
At this point the scorer notifies the officials that B-1 has 5 fouls. After conferring with each other, the officials rule that B-1’s goal does not count and disallow the foul. They return the ball to the other end of the court and award the ball to Team B nearest to where B-1 gained control of the rebound. Were the officials correct?
