Neither team is in the bonus.  A-1 is on a breakaway.  B-1 is trying to catch up and pushes A-2 out of his way as A-1 is going up to lay the ball in the basket.  The official rules a foul on B-1 for the push.  The ball goes through the basket.

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

During the 4th quarter B-1 is whistled for an illegal screen.  The scorer notifies the official that it is B-1’s 5th foul.  B-6, who is waiting to come into the game, is beckoned in by the official and replaces B-1.  The official, thinking that the coach already knows it is B-1’s 5th, does not notify the coach.  Two minutes later, B-1 returns to the game.  The ball is in play when the scorer has the horn sounded to get the officials’ attention that B-1 is in the game with 5 fouls.

Handle the situation.

A1 dribbles to a spot on the wing and jumps to attempt a try.  After going airborne, A1 loses control of the ball, then returns to the floor and regains control of the loose ball without anyone else touching the ball.  A1 then dribbles in and scores.  The official rules a legal play.  Was the official correct?

A1 receives a pass and jumps to attempt a try.  After going airborne, A1 loses control of the ball, returns to the floor and regains control of the loose ball.  A1 then dribbles in and scores.  The official rules a legal play.  Was the official correct?

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A1 is being closely guarded by B1 near the division line in front court.  B1 deflects the ball away from A1 while A1 is dribbling. The ball hits the trail official who is standing inbounds.  This prevents the deflected ball from going out of bounds. The trail official blows his whistle when the ball contacts him.
