Play of the Day #331 (2022-23)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 is dribbling the ball in backcourt when the ball gets away from him.  The ball bounces into the front court.  A-1, who is still in the backcourt, resumes his dribble by batting the ball to the floor.

Handle the situation.

This is a backcourt violation.  When the ball got away from A-1, this created an interrupted dribble situation.  There is no player control during an interrupted dribble.  Therefore, when the ball bounced into the frontcourt, it got frontcourt status.  When A-1 resumed his dribble, he gave the ball backcourt status since he was in the backcourt.

Very Interesting Play. Correct and this Play is one that could be ruled wrong, not paying
    attention to the situation. Thanks!
