The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 drives for a layup that is successful.  A-1’s momentum carries him out of bounds.  As A-1 is returning to the inbounds side of the boundary line, A-1 fouls B-1 who is attempting a throw-in.

Handle the situation.


Regardless of where A-1 is when she fouled B-1, illegal contact during a throw-in is an intentional personal foul by rule.  B-1 is entitled to two free throws and the ball will be awarded to Team B for a designated spot throw-in at the spot of the foul.  Please note that Team B will not have the right to move along the end line during the throw-in after the free throws have attempted.
