The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A-1 is fouled in the act of shooting. The ball passes through the basket. A-1 taunts B-1 and is charged with a technical foul for unsporting conduct. The technical foul is A-1’s fifth foul.
Handle the situation.
The goal by A-1 is good. A-1 is entitled to one free throw. However, because the technical foul that was charged to A-1 is the fifth foul, A-1 is disqualified immediately. The official will notify the head coach of the disqualification. A-1’s substitute will attempt the free throw with no one lined up along the lane.
After this free throw, Team B will be awarded two free throws and the ball at the division line opposite the table for a designated spot throw-in.
