Both teams are in the bonus. During a throw-in by A-1, A-1 attempts to lob a pass to A-2. A-2 pushes B-1 out of the way while attempting to catch the pass and is whistled for a common foul. The official awards B-1 a bonus free throw situation. Was the official correct?
The official was NOT correct. By definition, a common foul committed by the team attempting to inbound the ball is a team control foul. The ball should have been awarded to Team B for a designated spot throw-in nearest the spot fo the foul. (References: Rule 4-19-7, 10 Penalties 1b)
